It occurs to me that things are going pretty well for our lodge as Fall
approaches. In August, Brother Tom Conway became a Master Mason and the
newest member to our lodge. Congratulations Tom and welcome!
This special occasion was followed by a favorable report from our
Investigation Committee at our September Regular and we will be conferring
the Entered Apprentice Degree on September 18th. As if this was not enough,
WB Fred reported that we have in our possession another petition. With this
investigation underway, it promises to be a Fall with plenty of degree work. It
makes for a great opportunity for us to refresh our knowledge of our craft.
With the cooler temperatures I am reminded that fish fries are nearly back in session. Let’s try to
spread the word and let all of our patrons know its almost time to stuff themselves to the gills (pun
intended). We will be having a kitchen cleaning before our Temple
Association meeting on September 26 at 6 PM. This will give us a chance
to clear out the cobwebs and wash the walls. Please come by and lend a
hand if you are able. We should be able to get done early.
I hope to contact many of you who have faithfully worked on the fish
fries to make sure we’re set to go. If you see room for improvement,
please let me hear your ideas. For those of you who are newer to our fish
fries, please ask questions. If you’d like to help out, there are many
opportunities. We depend on these fish fries to financially sustain our
building, our activities and most importantly - our charities. Help is
getting harder to find and many of us are taking on more and more to keep these fish suppers going.
50 + Years of fish suppers is quite a tradition. Let’s keep it going!
Our School of Instruction will be Wednesday, September 17 in Grand Ledge at 7:00 PM. With all
the degree work we have coming up, this is a great opportunity for us to ask questions and get the
kinks out of our work. We also get the chance to visit some of our brothers from area lodges.
Officers, we have been summoned but all Master
Masons are encouraged to attend.
I would like to thank WB Frank Cranmer for
his tireless efforts in organizing the Child ID
program for the DeWitt Ox Roast. He attended
festival meetings, made reservations with Grand
Lodge to be able to host the program, handed
out flyers and made & hung out posters. He
called enough volunteers to man 6 stations and
had everything in place. Unfortunately due to
circumstances out of his control, the computers
did not arrive and the event had to be cancelled.
This was of no fault of WB Frank yet his
dedication to this program makes it easy to see
why he is our Mason of the Year.
Also, thanks to all of you who responded to last
month’s newsletter. We now have over 50
members and friends receiving the newsletter
by e-mail. At almost 17 cents a mailing, that is
quite a savings over a year’s time so it’s worth
one more reminder. All you have to do is make
a request to: dcross@deltami.gov I was also
reminded this past month of a few of you who
received it both ways. Thank you for pointing
that out to me. Hopefully the corrections have
been made.
Fraternally, Dick Cross WM

The Chapter room was VERY WARM at our September 2nd meeting so we
hustled along and got lots of business done. Our Happy Smiles & Hugs go out
to our Sister Dorothy Jackson (she is living with her daughter (Sister Shelly
Reust) right now as her husband (Brother Hardy) is recuperating from an
illness and is in a nursing home), Sister Roberta Henretty (recovering from
pacemaker repair surgery) and Brother Stanley Cierlik (cataract surgery).
We wish you each of you better days ahead very soon.
Please remember that October 7th is our annual meeting, and we have several pieces of business to
take care of and we’d really like to have our members attend so that they (YOU) can have a say as
to what our Chapter is doing. Again, the dress code is summer casual - Sister officers in skirt/
dress, Brother officers in slacks and tab front or casual shirt.
Please note our calendar of upcoming events and plan to join in these fun activities:

As you can see, we are off to a busy Fall!! Please help out anyway you are able. We are also
collecting new or GENTLY USED coats, hats, shoes, purses, etc. to send to the people of the
Ukraine. Please contact Sister DeAnn Openlander (626-6355) and make arrangements to get the
clothing to her. She has volunteered to deliver it to the proper place for shipping.
See you on the Star trail. Star Love, Carol & Jerry Orsborn, WM & WP
